Help Article - Stagefright

Stagefright is a bug discovered April 2015 which affects around 950 million android users. It allows someone to send malicious code in an MMS message which will be automatically run by the phone. Various posts on the internet have suggested disabling auto-retreval of MMS messages as a potential mitigation.

Zimperium INC. have created an app which can detect vulnerability on your android phone available from google play here. Installation of the Zimperium detection app is explained here, this link also discussed disabling MMS auto retreval for google hangouts users.
